Press Release Thursday 24th February 2011
Who says accountants are boring?… Wadebridge firm are first entrants for CHSW Corporate Challenge!
By becoming the first company in the South West to enter into this year’s Corporate Challenge a Wadebridge accountancy firm is living proof that accountants aren’t boring!
Alexander & Co will be battling it out against teams from businesses across the region as they take on Children’s Hospice South West’s Corporate Challenge 2011 to raise money for local life-limited children.
The teams will compete on foot and bike with a variety of outdoor adventures and team challenges to collect points in a bid to win the Corporate Challenge Cup or the new Challenge Shield. Although they will only find out exactly what is in store for them on the day of the Corporate Challenge, Alexander & Co couldn’t wait to sign up two teams!
Far from the stereotypical firm of accountants, Alexander & Co pride themselves on offering clients a proactive service, placing the utmost importance on exceptional customer satisfaction. The firm is a fast growing accountancy practice based in Wadebridge, has been well established for over ten years, and has a dynamic team of fourteen members with plenty of experience – eight of which are ready to take on the Corporate Challenge! Among them is Managing Director Richard Alexander, he says: “We’ve decided to enter two teams of four into this Corporate Challenge as a company to raise funds for a really good cause and have a bit of fun in the process! We have quite a few parents within our team so children’s charities are close to our hearts. The building of the new children’s hospice is a big project for the county and, as a company that likes to do things a little differently, we are ready to take on other local firms in an event that will really benefit this worthy and well respected local charity.”
Last year the Corporate Challenge raised a staggering £30,000 for Children’s Hospice South West, a charity that provides respite, emergency, palliative and end of life care for life-limited children and support to their families at their hospices Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Bridge House in North Devon. A third special home from home called Little Harbour is being built at Porthpean in Cornwall and, all being well, is due to open by the end of 2011.
Naomi Allen, a Client Manager at Alexander & Co, adds: “We have been looking to support a local charity recently and have also been thinking of activities that could help towards team building, though we never thought that we’d find such a great way to combine the two! When I found out about the Corporate Challenge I was quick to let everyone in the office know, and I’m pleased to say that they were all as positive as me!”
Bernadette Thoreau, Children’s Hospice South West Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser, says: “We have had quite a bit of interest in this year’s Corporate Challenge but Alexander & Co are so keen that they are the first company to officially register! I’m sure they will get a huge amount out of the day, not least that they are helping to make a real difference to the lives of families with children who aren’t expected to reach adulthood.
“The Corporate Challenge is tough but fun and a great way to combine team building with corporate social responsibility. If your company is interested in taking on Alexander & Co, and other teams from around the region, we would love to hear from you.”
So what are you waiting for? Join Alexander & Co and take on the Corporate Challenge 2011 – the only way to find out what the day holds in store is to be there!
The Corporate Challenge takes place at Okehampton Training Camp, Dartmoor National Park on Saturday 18th June 2011. Corporate teams of 4-6 people from businesses across the South West can enter the Corporate Challenge 2011. To sign up we will ask you for £35 per person registration fee (£45 if you need us to provide your bike and helmet) and each team needs to pledge to raise a minimum of £1,500.
